Facebook continues to be the reigning champ of social media sites, as the #1 spot where friends connect and share online. More than just a meeting place for friends, Facebook has grown into a venue for businesses to market themselves through interaction with customers and self-promotion.
In this post we will be looking at seven ways you can use Facebook for marketing.
Whether you’re a big corporation or a small local biz, Facebook is a powerful marketing tool – it’s a great space to keep customers informed, develop brand identity, and broaden your reach.
2. Facebook Advertising: Classic Ads
Facebook offers its own form of advertising with Facebook ads, which appear in the side columns of the Facebook site. These classic ads are referred to more specifically as Marketplace Ads. They include a headline with copy, an image, and a click-through link to either a Facebook page, a Facebook app, or an outside website.
Facebook Promoted Posts let Facebook page owners pay a flat rate in order to have their individual Facebook posts reach a certain number of users, increasing a specific post’s reach and impressions.

What makes Twitter unique?
Twitter is a great marketing tool for a number of reasons. The platform …
… is free to use.
… allows you to share and promote branded content in seconds.
… expands your reach.
… allows you to provide quick customer service and support.
… works as a search engine tool for you to search for your competitors and their marketing content to see which tactics they’re using.
… can be used as a search engine tool for prospects to find and learn about your company.
… allows you to converse with your followers, share the latest updates about your company, and address your audience.
Now that we’ve reviewed what a Twitter marketing strategy is and what makes the platform unique, let’s cover the ways in which you can use Twitter for your business. These tips will help you boost conversions, create lasting relationships with your followers, and improve your brand awareness.
Google+ is Google’s own social network, enabling brands to build relationships with prospects, customers, and other businesses
Similar to other networks, you can share information and images, promote yourself as an individual and, if used correctly, Google+ can be a powerful social media marketing tool. The importance of Google+ should be assessed on an individual basis, as it is based on your unique appeal. If it is thought to be of benefit to your brand, it should be used as part of your overarching social media strategy.
In many respects, Google+ is more of an ‘information network’ than a social network. Facebook was created to connect with friends and socialize, and LinkedIn to connect professionals, whereas Google+ is to find others with similar interests.
Social networks generally come in two forms: asymmetrical and symmetrical. Symmetrical social networks require two users to be ‘friends’ or fans of one another before they can connect. Examples of symmetrical social networks include Facebook and LinkedIn.
Pinterest is a platform that attracts over 150 active million users per month. Standing apart from other social media sites which focus primarily on community discussion or user-engagement, Pinterest acts more like a ‘digital scrapbook’ than a conventional ‘social network’.
Referring to themselves as a ‘tool for discovering & for sharing new ideas’, Pinterest is not really the place to catch up with your friends, nor share your recent holiday photos.
The network has been likened to to ‘a visual search engine – similar to Google’ by Sean O’ Neil (CEO of Adaptly) and recent figures show that in 2016, Pinterest received around 2 billion searches per month.
Google offers paid advertisements which appear in search results on google.com with the use of Google AdWords or advertisements that appear on other websites through the Display Network and Google’s AdSense program.
Below is an example of a Google search engine results page (SERP). There are two sections of paid Google ads, one above the “natural” or organic links and one at the bottom of the results page:
The sponsored results, or ads, (in the red box) are denoted with a green “Ad” label. The results that appear below the ads (in the green box) are referred to as organic results.
Google also offers Display Ads, which appear on the Google Display Network. The Display Network is an extensive collection of outside, third-party websites that have partnered with Google and agreed to serve Google ads. Google ads on the Display Network can be in text, image, video, or rich media format, and can be targeted differently. This includes remarketing and banner ads.
Bing Ads offers more granular control at the campaign and ad group levels.
Unlike in Google Ads, Bing allows you to assign different campaigns different time zones. This makes sophisticated ad scheduling strategies far easier to manage in Bing, particularly if your campaigns reach internationally.
In Google Ads, Google makes you set your network, location, ad scheduling, language, and ad rotation settings at the campaign level and ad groups are restricted to their campaign-level settings. Bing Ads, however, opens these options up at the ad group level, allowing you to quickly adjust a setting for a particular ad group without having to go through the hassle of creating a brand new campaign to make the change.
Google earned the scorn of the paid search community in 2013 when they forced the migration to enhanced campaigns, where campaigns by default target all desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Users can adjust their bids some for mobile devices, but not for tablets and users can’t opt out of targeting desktop searches.
Yahoo search ads — a form of PPC advertising — are effective because they’re highly relevant to what searchers are already looking for, targeted toward an audience with high intent. These searchers are more likely to click paid search ads, meaning they have a higher chance to convert into a customer than someone without any interest or intent.
To demonstrate, this Taboola search ad is highly relevant to the search query, contains a benefit-oriented headline and description, and shows an optimized display URL
Yahoo display ads can be shown to people who previously showed interest in your brand, product, or service. This is a form of personalized advertising called retargeting (aka remarketing). Instead of appearing in search engine results, they’re located at the top, bottom, sides, or middle of the content on a web page.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
“But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?”
